We are what we see

 22"The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. 23But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

 24"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.

Where do your eyes fixate on?  This is both a physical and metaphorical question.

Do you look at others’ possession?  Do you look at the areas in your life that are full of pain and look at only that?  Do you look at material possessions longingly.

What we look at drives the light or darkness within.

If you are driving a car, and it is out of control, if you focus on the telephone pole (as many people do) — you will end up crashing into that pole!

This is hard.  We want to visualize success, wealth and abundance, but how do we do so in a way that our "whole body" is NOT "full of darkness"?

Picture abundance as God would want you to abundant.  And there are images of that which we will get to.  Check: is it the love of MONEY that is driving your desire, or GOD?  This can be a very, very difficult exercise, particularly if we partition God to Sunday and church activities.  Imagine abundance as God would want your life to be abundant, abundance from the way God perceives us receiving, giving, enjoying abundance and what the outcome of that is.  Is it more expensive watches or purses or cars?  Or is it to use abundance in the way God ultimately wants, which is to partake in the redemption of a broken world, give Glory to Him, and teach others about how to have a relationship with Him.

Two different ways come from following two different masters.  Which do you want?  Light or Darkness?

Prayer

In your own words, write the specific prayer that conveys the following:  God, let my eyes be good and fill my body with light.  I want to hear from you what my eyes should focus on and the darkness I should turn away from.  Show to me an alternate vision from loving money to loving You.

Action

Write down what your eyes want to see that is the light, that diverts you from the love of money.  Describe a picture in terms of relationships, financial abundance, and healthy choices.

Give it Up to Gain (Does the Bible NOT want us to be Rich?)

17As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. “Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

18“Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. 19You know the commandments: ‘Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, do not defraud, honor your father and mother.’[d]

20“Teacher,” he declared, “all these I have kept since I was a boy.”

21Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

22At this the man’s face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth.
23Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!”

24The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said again, “Children, how hard it is[e] to enter the kingdom of God! 25It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

26The disciples were even more amazed, and said to each other, “Who then can be saved?”

27Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”

28Peter said to him, “We have left everything to follow you!”

29“I tell you the truth,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel 30will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age (homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—and with them, persecutions) and in the age to come, eternal life. 31But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”

And the same:

17As he went out into the street, a man came running up, greeted him with great reverence, and asked, “Good Teacher, what must I do to get eternal life?”

18-19Jesus said, “Why are you calling me good? No one is good, only God. You know the commandments: Don’t murder, don’t commit adultery, don’t steal, don’t lie, don’t cheat, honor your father and mother.”

20He said, “Teacher, I have—from my youth—kept them all!”

21Jesus looked him hard in the eye—and loved him! He said, “There’s one thing left: Go sell whatever you own and give it to the poor. All your wealth will then be heavenly wealth. And come follow me.”

22The man’s face clouded over. This was the last thing he expected to hear, and he walked off with a heavy heart. He was holding on tight to a lot of things, and not about to let go.

23-25Looking at his disciples, Jesus said, “Do you have any idea how difficult it is for people who ‘have it all’ to enter God’s kingdom?” The disciples couldn’t believe what they were hearing, but Jesus kept on: “You can’t imagine how difficult. I’d say it’s easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye than for the rich to get into God’s kingdom.”

26That set the disciples back on their heels. “Then who has any chance at all?” they asked.

27Jesus was blunt: “No chance at all if you think you can pull it off by yourself. Every chance in the world if you let God do it.”

28Peter tried another angle: “We left everything and followed you.”

29-31Jesus said, “Mark my words, no one who sacrifices house, brothers, sisters, mother, father, children, land—whatever—because of me and the Message will lose out. They’ll get it all back, but multiplied many times in homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and land—but also in troubles. And then the bonus of eternal life! This is once again the Great Reversal: Many who are first will end up last, and the last first.”

The Rich Young Man.  And the phrase: Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!”  Is this saying that the rich cannot be Christian?  Or to be a good Christian, one must not or cannot be rich?

As we’ve seen, God believes wisdom and trusting God is important, and if you do that, he honors riches.  He desires us to live in abundance.  So what is he saying?

Before Jesus makes that statement, the author makes the following comment about the rich young man: “He was holding on tight to a lot of things, and not about to let go.”

And that is the rub.  First, seek the Kingdom of Heaven.  To do that, we must relinquish the things we hold tight to: that is often our wealth — or for those who aren’t rich, just plain material comforts.  Or — as we can see later — it can be negative judgments about wealth and those who have it or pursue it.

When we hold onto “stuff” — yes, it will be hard to get into the Kingdom of God.  But, remember: after one is there, it will be “multiplied many times.”

The way to riches is to not hold onto it.  Do not need it.  To not strive for it.  Another way to put it is to seek the Kingdom of God, which we’ll explore later is to find passions, share your talent, create value, form relationships, and share the Kingdom of God with others.  Then the wealth is “multiplied” because we stopped “holding tightly” to stuff.

This is a hard, difficult concept.  As an entrepreneur, we desire wealth, success, and riches.  If you are poor or financially struggling, isn’t that what we focus, how can we get “more”?

What if it becomes a case of, “I have enough” and then, instead, seek the Kingdom of God: finding passions, acting with urgency, sharing your talent, serving the lesser, form relationships, and share the Kingdom of God with others?

For me this is hard, and maybe it is for you.  Because we want to focus on the “money” aspect because — that’s what we want and need.  But I read a profound statement the other day (by someone who is against all religion, ironically): You don’t get rich focusing on money, focus in “value.”

Prayer:

Write down your prayer in your own words, asking, “God, help me to let go of the things I hold tightly onto.  It can be the comforts I have or the riches I covet.  Fill me with trust that, if I let go, it will all be multiplied “a hundred times as much in this present age”

Praise:

Be thankful for the multiplying you will receive for letting go.  Be thankful even if there are troubles, because it was promised that comes with the multiplying of resources, as well as with eternal life.  And for this promise: “all things are possible with God!”

Actions:

Write what you can let to of, that you “hold tightly” to, that you consider your riches.  Not just the actual money, stocks, 401K, but maybe your job, your aspirations, things you hold as prestigious, judgments (yes, if you hold judgments about wealth, that is your own source of ‘riches’).  Write down in your heart, you will let go of them and invite them to be multiplied “a hundred times as much in this present age.”

Urgency of Action Steps

3 “It was not because of his sins or his parents’ sins,” Jesus answered. “This happened so the power of God could be seen in him. 4 We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us.[a] The night is coming, and then no one can work. 5 But while I am here in the world, I am the light of the world.”

6 Then he spit on the ground, made mud with the saliva, and spread the mud over the blind man’s eyes. 7 He told him, “Go wash yourself in the pool of Siloam” (Siloam means “sent”). So the man went and washed and came back seeing!

(John 9:3-7 NLT)

In this passage, Jesus’ actions are to enable a blind-man to see.  But he uses this occasion to spur action: “We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us.[a] The night is coming, and then no one can work.”

Once we have cleared out the wrong-beliefs and developed a faith that there is a plan which uses our talents, painted a vision by being in partnership with God, the next is action.

There may be many actions.  But I’ve learned that the exhortation above to “quickly carry out the tasks assigned us” has the right energy, urgency, and specificity.

Tasks are small, component-sized actions — and so I’ve found for myself that even the loftiest of goals sits without gaining momentum unless they are done quickly and discretely.

Quickly doesn’t mean done hastily or poorly or haphazardly. It means focused and done without delay.  Imprint urgency into your tasks!

Let’s start today!

Prayer

Write down, then sit in silence, again impressing upon your soul and in your conversation with God, what this goal is and what are the tasks assigned to you to do.  Let clarity of thought and purpose make the tasks clear actions.  Keep breaking them down so they can be done “quickly.”

Praise

Write down what you are thankful for that will enable you to do the task.  If it is sight, write it down.  If it is a home, right it down.  Have a computer, right it down, and write the words, “I am thankful” or “I am so thankful for…..”

Actions

Write down your actions for this goal, and at the top, in big, bold letter, the swift, quick action that you can do to start it off!

Take a Three Steps — Accept, Forgive, Give

 37 “Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn others, or it will all come back against you. Forgive others, and you will be forgiven. 38 Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.[a]” (Luke 6:37-38 NLT)

37-38"Don’t pick on people, jump on their failures, criticize their faults— unless, of course, you want the same treatment. Don’t condemn those who are down; that hardness can boomerang. Be easy on people; you’ll find life a lot easier. Give away your life; you’ll find life given back, but not merely given back—given back with bonus and blessing. Giving, not getting, is the way. Generosity begets generosity." (Luke 6:37-38 Message)

This is so important.  And I’ve had such a hard time with this myself.  I’m hoping that my sharing my struggle with this will empower you.  Many of you probably do a much better job of this.

The three key steps:

I know that these three areas are powerful, essential steps towards wealth, abundance, prosperity and richness in all aspects of life.

And they can be hard.  So that’s why having specific actions and specific prayer in this area is so key.

Prayer

Ask God to provide names of specific people He wants you to Accept, Forgive, and to Give to.  Spend time with this and let Him really guide you on this to clear the way for your plans.

Action

Write down how you would act instead of doing what you would normally do.  There’s a guy I’ve had to work with who was difficult — stubborn, hard to understand, not-responsive.  I need to just be more patient with him rather than chewing him out, and present to him my side and ask for his help.  Do the same for the rest: work deep in areas where you need to take Action, and it will clear the path towards your Goals and Vision.

Promise to share in God’s divine greatness

By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. 4 And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.(2Peter 1:3-4 NLT)

His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. (2Peter 1:3-4 NIV)

God is generous.  God wants you to be an heir to the Kingdom, an idea we will continue to return to.  This passage from 2Peter talks about how he wants you to "share" or "participate" in His divine nature.  That means when we start to understand God’s nature, we understand what God wants for us.

God isn’t scarce, he is generous.  God forgives.  God is abundant.  God has loving, giving relationships.  And it is clear that we have it already!  In other words, it isn’t something to be earned.  "We have received all of this by coming to know him."

So why don’t we experience it?  Why do we feel lack, stress, and worry?

Because we get in our own way.  We allow our own "evil desires" and those of the "world" corrupt us.

But God wants us to escape those, and when we do, we will start to live an abundant life.

"Corrupt desires" are where we long for things out of selfishness, greed, and past hurts.  We want to identify what in the "world" corrupts us and make sure that we can partner with God to escape from them.

For me, that has meant no television.  I’m not saying that it’s the same for you.  I love Homer Simpson, and so I buy him on DVD.  But it means I block out the commercials, the noise, the distractions.

But the meaning can be deeper.  The "evil desires" are the things that we harbor as desires that need to be acknowledged and moved past in order to experience the fullness of life.

Prayer

Ask God to continue to refine you and allow you to escape from "evil desires" from the world.  Be honest with yourself and allow those to come forth, not with shame or guilt, but with honesty.  Write down your prayer.

Action

Write down an action that is one step towards escaping from an "evil desire."  What does the "godly life" look like without it?  Write down the action: to throw something away?  to call for help?  to start a habit?  What is the very specific action you can take today!

Multiply Your Talents is what the Kingdom Asks

"Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his property to them. 15To one he gave five talents[a] of money, to another two talents, and to another one talent, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. 16The man who had received the five talents went at once and put his money to work and gained five more. 17So also, the one with the two talents gained two more. 18But the man who had received the one talent went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money. (Matthew 25:14-18 NIV)

According to this scripture, what is the "It"?

It refers to the first part of Chapter 25 to which this verse belongs:

 "At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom…(Matthew 25:1 NIV)

The "It" is the Kingdom of Heaven!

It is like the man who goes on the journey and asks people to invest the talents.  In this case, talents is referring to a unit of measure.  So the literal interpretation has to do with physical coin; but the principle is how we invest something of worth, given to us by the man — the Kingdom of Heaven — and multiply.

The man who takes the five talents and produces five more receives the following praise from the man:

 21"His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’  (Matthew 25:21 NIV)

The example has been set to take what we have, however much and however little, and be faithful in cultivating them in ways that grow. 

The way to the Kingdom is to take what we have and apply them faithfully to multiply, to create value.

This is one of the core principles, which is to start with who you are, where you are, and what you know.  No matter how limited it appears to you, it’s about applying it faithfully.

Prayer

Ask for God to show you what "talents" you have — they can seem miniscule to you.  I know I’ve been that way — I felt I had absolutely nothing of value.  I still struggle with it, and I decided to just start with my passion, which was digging into the Bible to find life-enriching wisdom.  Believe me, I know of people who have lots of passions and talents that they just haven’t acknowledged — but write it down without editing it.  What do you love to read?  To talk about?  To do in your spare time?  What was an aspiration of yours when you were very, very young?  Who is a hero of yours?

Actions

Write down what was revealed.  If you write, "None," pray through it and ask God in a heart-to-heart, would you really have been created with no-talents at all?  Let Him speak to you.

Step to cleaning the inside — positive thinking

 8Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. (Philippians 4:8-9 NIV)

And:

 8-9Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies. (Philippians 4:8-9 Message)

We’ve talked about embarking on clearing up the "junk" inside that can get into the way of us experiencing wealth, success, and fulfillment.

An important step to capturing our thoughts is to affix on something positive.  Our mind and our actions will follow.  The success path — even one where we partner spiritually with God — is largely a mental game.

I, myself, have experienced the good and the bad.  When my mind tended to focus on negative outcomes or negative images, not only did I feel bad, become less confident, but the negative outcome would result.  In those rare days I was filled with optimism and hope — pretty much everything happened.  I stepped out in faith.

But faith takes discipline and effort to build, and so for this exercise, I want us to focus on things that are good thoughts to focus on and to take this seriously.  Look at your own thoughts and what do you focus on?

Is it worry?  Is it the distractions of tabloids and gossip?  Is it on how your life may suck right now?  What is it?

Let’s start right now to turn it around!  I wish someone had sat me down and given this talk and asked me to do what I’m about to do, I know that it would have made a huge difference in my life:

Actions

Write down a person, place, or thing, a memory…whatever…that fits these categories.  Write it down and make sure it is something you can picture and afix your thoughts on:

Stuck?  Think about an inspiring movie.  Go onto the internet at write a quote.  Find a book, like Chicken Soup for the Soul and get a story.  Put down the name of someone you know or maybe just read about.  Fill each of these in.  You absolutely must fill these in otherwise the natural negative thoughts we get from inside and from the outside will fill the space of your mind.  I know: it happens to me all the time, every day.

Prayer

Ask God (remember, write down your specific prayer in your own words) to fill your mind with these things that are excellent and praiseworthy, and to take away any focus on the negative and just focus on these things.

Now that you have a plan…now what?

 2 All a man’s ways seem innocent to him,
       but motives are weighed by the LORD.

 3 Commit to the LORD whatever you do,
       and your plans will succeed. (Proverb 16:2-3 NIV)

And

 20 Listen to advice and accept instruction,
       and in the end you will be wise.

 21 Many are the plans in a man’s heart,
       but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.

 22 What a man desires is unfailing love [a] ;
       better to be poor than a liar. (Proverbs 19: 20-22 NIV)

And

 9 In his heart a man plans his course,
       but the LORD determines his steps. (Proverbs 16:9 NIV)

When we commit good to God, or for that matter, when we commit to anyone, what does that mean?

If you break it down in the Latin, it means "to send with."  There are three common definitions which I think are valuable to remember.  One means to to "pledge or obligate" — which is the sense of to be "totally committed."  The other is to "put in trust or charge" as in to "commit to someone’s care."  And the last is just "to do" — often seen in the context of "to commit a crime" (don’t do this, please! ;) )

Can you see how "commit your plans to God" is a powerful action and statement?  First, it says that man will have plans.  And if you’ve been following this process, you should by now, have plans, plans which are in alignment with God’s will or work for you.

Now we reached a passage, we’ve been waiting for, " your plans will succeed."  That is music to my ears, and hopefully to you!  And what do we need to do?  To commit them to God:

  1. It means to put God in trust of those plans — commit the plans to Him
  2. It  means pledging oneself to God to do these plans with committment
  3. It means to go out and do them — commit

Are you ready to do those?

Actions

Is there a part of you which feels only you are doing these plans, or that you have God’s trust in them?  Write down your answer.

Write down a pledge to God that you, along him, will do as you have planned:

Write down the first actual action step, a small, clearly defined ACTION that you can do right now!

Prayer

In your prayer, first commit to God that you will trust him, pledge that you will seek to allow him to guide your steps to carry out these plans.  Invite God in with your trust, and WAIT for a response to feel him guiding you.

Do not Worry

 22Then Jesus said to his disciples: "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. 23Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. 24Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! 25Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life[a]? 26Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?

 27"Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 28If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! 29And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. 30For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. 31But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.

 32"Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. (Luke 12:20-32 NIV)

And the other translation:

 22-24He continued this subject with his disciples. "Don’t fuss about what’s on the table at mealtimes or if the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your inner life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes you hang on your body. Look at the ravens, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, carefree in the care of God. And you count far more.

 25-28"Has anyone by fussing before the mirror ever gotten taller by so much as an inch? If fussing can’t even do that, why fuss at all? Walk into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They don’t fuss with their appearance—but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? The ten best-dressed men and women in the country look shabby alongside them. If God gives such attention to the wildflowers, most of them never even seen, don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you?

 29-32"What I’m trying to do here is get you to relax, not be so preoccupied with getting so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep yourself in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. Don’t be afraid of missing out. You’re my dearest friends! The Father wants to give you the very kingdom itself. (Luke 12:20-32 Message)

This is a famous, oft-quoted passage (as many of these are) but I believe not given enough focus or application in today’s world.

When we experience or perceive lack, that prompts worry.

When you look at your bank statement and don’t see a healthy balance, you perceive lack, and then you worry.

When you look at your net-worth and compare it to what you have in your mind that it should be, that produces worry.

Read these passages as if He’s speaking to you about your desires for success and want to fill the lack.  He says:

  1. Do not worry about tomorrow’s provisions, including the basics of food and clothes
  2. Seek first the kingdom of God and all these things that you’re seeking will be given as well

Do not worry and do not fear.  And then, instead, seek the kingdom of God first.

I believe that, at least for me, is where the key challenge must be and where I have devoted a large section of this e-book, which is to direct us to seek the kingdom of God and, in doing so, align our grand plans for success, wealth, and happiness with those plans.

But it begins with seeking the kingdom of God and not worrying.  This may seem counter-intuitive from other programs which want you to state, first and foremost, what your goals and dreams are.  Don’t worry!  We will get there.  I know that you have desires, but that perhaps those desires need to be refocused to get what you really want.

In other words — and this will be a theme I build on so please stick with me — focusing on the acquisition of money itself will not be the most successful way to bring it to you.  I know: I would be very focused on the acquisition of money, but I believe money comes when you focus on other things.  And in this context, that other thing is the Kingdom of God.

The question for me was…What does it mean to first seek the Kingdom of God??

We will address those, but first:

Actions

Do you have worries?  Particularly about your material well-being?  Write them down.

Second, look at this question from above and honestly answer it for yourself, not just lip-service or a head-response, but do you deep within your self, how do you respond?

If God gives such attention to the wildflowers, most of them never even seen, don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you?

Prayer

Write down in your own words a prayer, then close your eyes and offer it up to God.  Even if you don’t believe in God, please do this.

Have your prayer convey the following:  that you want to be free of worries; that you want your faith to grow that He will take care of your every need; and that you will gain the understanding and wisdom to seek first the kingdom of God.

Focus instead of being Double Minded

If you don’t know what you’re doing, pray to the Father. He loves to help. You’ll get his help, and won’t be condescended to when you ask for it. Ask boldly, believingly, without a second thought. People who "worry their prayers" are like wind-whipped waves. Don’t think you’re going to get anything from the Master that way, adrift at sea, keeping all your options open. (James 1:5-8 Message)

If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does. (James 1:5-8 NIV)

The visual of being "tossed by the wind" and "adrift at sea" is something I connect to.  It comes from having doubts or "keeping all your options open."

There are so many things in the world, directions we can take, goals we seek to achieve that we can end up with nothing.  I know exactly what that is like — I have myself felt the pull of starting multiple businesses because I couldn’t focus on which one, or keeping many options open in a career path.

It means losing focus and direction.  Can you relate to that?

In these passages, it says to ask for Wisdom.  And this will be a big theme in the path to creating truth wealth based on Biblical principles.

As God for Wisdom and believe.  With the Wisdom you receive, focus then on what your goals are and do not doubt.  That is something within our control, the degree to which we doubt.

How many people "worry their prayers"?  I know that I do?

I "worry" that  my prayers aren’t answered, or my prayers are simply a statement of my worries.

In neither case am I banishing doubt from my thought.  And this is an area where on the path to Biblical wealth must be defined first.

Actions

What are the areas of doubt?

Do you doubt that God hears you and wants to help?

Ask yourself and let it sit because I’ve found that this type of doubt is one that falls well beneath the conscious thinking.  When you look at that question, how do you feel?  Be honest with the question and the answer, and know that God can work through that.

Do you doubt that you deserve the good things God can do for you?

Prayer

Write out in as "bold" and "believingly" as you can for God’s wisdom.  Physically write it out on in this space — I know, I know — I tend to just skip those interactive things too, thinking, "If I can think it, it’s the same as if I do it."  But it’s not!

Write out your prayer right now in how you ask first of all for Wisdom, and second to remove doubt, and third to remove the many options so that you are no longer a double-minded man.
